A front living room with a bay window, shutters and a black fireplace. The customer wanted panelling below a dado rail on every wall, with wallpaper above.
What we did
Panelling a bay is mostly setting out. Each face of the bay is a different width, so we worked the panel sizes out face by face. That keeps the frames even under each window section and lets them finish cleanly at the corners of the bay.
The rail runs at one height round the whole room, past the chimney breast and the door frame, so the line stays level all the way round. Rail, frames and skirting were filled and caulked before painting.
