This kitchen was taken right back. The old units and wall finishes came off down to the old plaster and brick, and the old ceiling came down too.
What we did
We lowered the ceiling on a metal frame first, so the new ceiling is flat and level however uneven the joists above are. New timber linings went into the door openings off the hall at the same time.
Once the walls and ceiling were done, the kitchen went in: light grey handleless units, full-height housings for the oven and the fridge freezer, a tall larder with lit glass shelves, and a small breakfast bar. New oak-effect doors were then hung on the new linings.
