An old timber floor in a front room with a bay window. The boards had gaps along the walls and a patchwork of old repairs.
What we did
We sealed the gaps along the skirting and prepared the old boards, then laid oak-effect herringbone across the room and on through the doorway into the hall.
Herringbone takes longer than straight boards. Every block that meets a wall, the bay or a door frame is cut individually, and the pattern has to stay straight from one end of the room to the other.
